Our Story

Ohms Collective: A Shared Vision

Founded in 2021, Ohms Collective is the brainchild of co-founders and life partners, Omar and Chrissy Dasco-Uribe. Despite our different journeys, we share a unified vision, inspiring each other as we build our brand and business.

Omar's Story
Omar's path was shaped by personal challenges, including bullying, his father’s struggles with alcohol, and losing his father to cancer at 15. A pivotal moment came when he cooked a meal for his family, sparking his passion for culinary arts.

With the help of some inspiring mentors, Omar excelled in culinary school, and at the same time developed a deep connection to nature and mushrooms, which helped him find peace from depression and reignited a passion for life.

As an executive chef in Ojai, he further embraced foraging mushrooms to escape the stress of restaurant life. Recognizing the toll of the industry, he shifted focus to mycology and created the Big Brain Bar—a nutritious treat stacked with functional mushrooms, designed to boost cognitive function and energy.

This transition led ultimately led to the foundation for Ohms Collective. With Chrissy’s creative support, Omar has dedicated himself to cultivating mushrooms, developing a line of superfood products, and being a leader in the mushroom community speaking at conferences and sharing his knowledge. 

Chrissy's Story
Chrissy’s early struggles with food sensitivities, anxiety, and body dysmorphia fueled her interest in holistic health and nutrition. After studying at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, she pivoted to child-centered education, moving to Ojai to work as a mentor at a school for self-directed education. 

Her dedication to holistic healing, yoga and fitness, mental health, and balanced eating remains central to her life. Partnering with Omar to build Ohms Collective allowed Chrissy to merge her passions for food, health, and community into a meaningful brand.

A Shared Mission
Together, Omar and Chrissy draw inspiration from music festivals, art, nature, travel, and community engagement. We aim to create products and experiences that promote health, creativity, and connection, making Ohms Collective a reflection of our shared journey and values.
