Hello dear friends, family, and fans from near and far,
It's been a while since I've written one of these newsletter/blog posts and while at this moment I am not making any promises to publish blogs with any sort of consistency my intention is that you'll be hearing from me on this platform once a month as I share updates about events and new product launches.
Because while I have taken a step back from blogging A LOT has been happening behind the scenes both here at Ohms Collective in and our own personal and professional lives outside of this passion project.
Today I am here to tell you about the exciting things going on with Ohms and the Big Brain Brand. Some of you may recall from an earlier letter that in our pursuit to get the Big Brain Booth to our Ojai Certified Farmers Market we were came up against a series of hoops to jump though and boxes to check involving both county and state level mandated permits (and their accompanying fees) that would allow us to legally manufacture, handle, package, and sell our superfood snack products to consumers. And while we are still one permit away from being allowed to have a booth at the Ojai Farmers Market, we have finally (finally!!) been approved to make, package, and sell Big Brain Snacks to you! (cue the fireworks and confetti)
That's right people, after eight months of phone calls, emails, applications, cheque writing, snail mailing, and inspections we are officially cleared to do the thing we set out to do: Make some healthy snacks and provide them to our community. And that is exactly what we intend to do.
We are now operating out of a certified commissary at the Oak View Community Resource Center that we could not be more grateful for. And this week Omar will be handcrafting fresh batches of both original and lemon flavored Big Brain Bars to prepare for a couple of events that we have lined up over the next couple of weeks.
For those of you local to the Ojai area we will be popping up the Big Brain Booth at two events to round out the last week of summer on a high note.
First, on Saturday September 14 from 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm we will be enjoying the sounds of some of Ojai's favorite musicians on the lawn overlooking Libbey Bowl for the 2nd Annual Songs for Greater Goods Fundraiser.
Greater Goods is a beloved local non-profit whose mission is to elevate the arts and community with music, poetry, and gatherings that celebrate our shared humanity.
Ohms Collective has partnered with Greater Goods on many events over the years and we are so blessed to be serving our community at what is to be a beautiful evening of music and dancing in Ojai's favorite park. If you live anywhere in the 805 I strongly encourage you to come out and show your support for the artists that make our town a more beautiful place to live in. And of course be sure to buy yourself a pack of Big Brain Bars to nourish your bellies and keep the boogie in your boots ;)
Then, on Friday September 20 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm Ohms Collective will be serving up our superfood snacks at a "Healthy Hour" Pop-Up Market in celebration of the 1 Year Anniversary of Fig Tree Wellness.
Fig Tree Wellness is a functional wellness center located at 1320 Maricopa Hwy in Ojai, CA that aims to elevate the health of the community by offering a variety of holistic healing modalities with skilled practitioners who provide care with compassion.
Omar and I are happy to be members of the Fig Tree Community and this "Healthy Hour" Pop-Up Market is sure to be a really sweet event and will feature non-alcoholic, botanical elixirs by Show Pony Bar, healthy snacks and small bites from local gourmet purveyors, herbal body care products, a vitamin boost bar, an open house and facility tour, a practitioner meet and greet, and a free raffle! If you are local to Ojai please bring a friend and come join us after work on Friday to celebrate the last days of summer with a commitment to self-care and nourishment.
Now, if you are not local to the 805, you might be wondering we we have for you. We now have all of our products available for purchase through our website. Please understand the reality that it is going to take us some time to get caught up on inventory for online orders. We humbly ask for your patience as we get caught up and do expect a longer than usual shipping time.
